LAM Testimony: Deeper Connection in Marriage and with Community
“I honestly didn’t know what to expect coming to Love After Marriage. I had hope that God would show us why our marriage wasn’t as good as what it was promised to be. I had a promise before we were married that we’d have such a good marriage, we’d be best friends in heaven. Sure enough, every day God would reveal areas of my life where He wanted to be welcomed in and allow the perfect work of the cross. That was the first five day. Getting healing in so many different areas, soul wounds, spirit wounds, receiving deliverance, etc. Then addressing some really bad teaching that I had and showing me a side of God in marriage (the sexual stuff with my wife) I hadn’t considered. Then having the honor to be used by God to help out other couples in their journey and learning new tools. But most important is finally connecting with my wife on a much deeper level than I had previously but had always hoped for.
Then this afternoon during the lay down exercise, God showed me a promise for us that we had both given up on many years ago due to our age. But I saw my wife holding our daughter. We don’t have kids, yet. I think God wants to show us the resurrection side of the cross now. I was really touched when Barry said about Moses that all God was looking for in Moses was someone willing to be obedient. The power to split the sea was all God; Moses just had to raise his staff.” – LAM Husband
“I was expecting God to move us up to another level of unity and love [through Love After Marriage]. I was hoping to be able to bring up our problems, indifferences and misunderstandings so we can peacefully and patiently deal with them and have healing in our marriage, even deliverance if needed. I prayed to God to have the Holy Spirit be with us all throughout because I knew we might end up hurting each other or maybe not being vulnerable enough. But God in His mercy showed up and did what only He can do. We partnered with Him, though.
We are not one hundred percent fixed (at least in our consciousness), but I trust the best it yet to come. He made things that are difficult for us happen. God has His ways of showing us He loves us and He is healing us. He brought us this small group, and sharing our life and love together opens up strategies in facing obstacles/hurdles in the future. I realized we’re not alone in this walk. People having breakthrough healed part of my soul. I can say that attending this workshop made a major impact in my marriage and in me personally. It’s worth it.” – LAM Wife
